Looking for some good Thanksgiving music and a unique tradition for the holiday? This is one of our favorite Thanksgiving songs. Jim Nollman recorded it in 1973 in a field with 300 turkeys and… well, do you really need to know anything else? Here’s a bit from a 2012 interview Jim Nollman did with NPR’s Rachel Martin: “One thing that really surprised me that I had no way of knowing is – so the turkeys made a big circle around me and I’m in the bulls-eye. And the turkeys next to me would start to gobble and it would gradually go towards the back of the circle. And then it would do the strangest thing – it would come back into the middle again. And so it wasn’t entirely like it was just a reaction to a loud sound. There was something else going on, which to this day I can’t tell you what it was.”
Here’s to that “something else going on” that we love investigating, and here’s to all of you on Thanksgiving! Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful day with loved ones.
