I’ve been really, really trying to find a Thanksgiving book that I like. There are SO many about children thanking various things in their lives, which is great, but I wanted something more unique.
What I love about Thanksgiving is that, for my family, it’s just about getting together and appreciating our loved ones. It’s simple. There’s no gifts. There’s no pressure. It’s just good food, good wine, good card games.
And I finally found a book that I love- Thanksgiving in the Woods by Phyllis Alsdurf. It’s actually a true story, told through the eyes of the grandchild, of a family in New York that has a tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving among the trees with their loved ones . Everyone brings food to share, sings songs, dances. It’s such a beautiful celebration of love and community. I want my own Thanksgiving in the Woods. (affiliate link below)
